What is Alkali Resistant Fibre?

Hydrating cement is strongly alkaline and a concrete matrix will rapidly degrade normal E glass fibre as used with polyester resin in GRP/FRP products.
AR Glass Fibres have been specially formulated to resist this degradation by the addition of zirconia to the glass fibre composition. The European standard BS EN15422 2008 calls for a minimum Zirconia content of 16% and Fibratec fibres exceed this requirement.

Why AR Glass Fibre?

Concrete used for ground supported slabs has traditionally been reinforced with a light weight steel mesh. It has always been difficult ensuring that the mesh is correctly placed within the section and the reason for the use of the mesh is often questioned.

AR Glass fibres can replace the steel mesh. They disperse uniformly throughout the mix and at the correct dosage level they can control plastic and drying shrinkage cracking.

AR GLASS FIBRE APPLICATIONS
• Sprayed concrete
• Precast and GRC products.
• Replacement of steel mesh in ground slabs.
• Pattern Imprinted Concrete
• Polished Terrazzo Floors
• Renders, mortars
• Insitu Concrete
• Ready Mixed Concrete
• Volumetric Concrete

FIBRATEC V12

Suitable for concrete slabs, driveways, light industrial floors, replacing the need for crack control steel mesh.

FIBRATEC V13

3 Dimensional Reinforcement for cement and lime based renders. Invisible at the surface and reduces shrinkage cracking.
